What if adversity, afflictions, trials, tribulations and persecutions were given unto you by God himself? And they were your teachers? What if the wilderness that you are living in . . . is right where you need to be? And that the wilderness is there to teach you, mold you, break you, prepare you, and to shape you into the great man that God has ordained you to be! What if you’re actually running from the exact situation, persecution, affliction, and trials that are meant to define your life? As you are running and scratching your head . . . your spiritual understanding has not connected with the one fact that God never makes it easy for any of us to walk as a king in His Kingdom! The spiritual dynamics are too vast! The hammer and chisel will have its way!
Isaiah 30:20-21 - And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not your teachers be removed into a corner any more, but your eyes shall see your teachers: And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, this is the way, walk you in it. That word could very well be the sound of a chisel hitting the rock.
Zechariah 13:9 - And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.
Everyone will have their moment where they will blame, accuse, and at times get angry with God. And as they are voicing their opinions, and gesturing like some mad Italian, God tunes up that relationship as he attempts to dial us into more of his likeness. But will you be able to stand as he gives you the bread of adversity to eat, and the water of affliction to drink. And when he tells you that these two are your teachers meant to teach you, will you fold up like some cheap tent as it messes up your camp or will you go in the way that you should go?
Will you be able to stand like Moses stood when God directs you into a wilderness to rearrange your dome! And will you be able to stand like Moses the second time as he sends you back into that same wilderness to rearrange the domes of other people. Will you be able to stand like David whom Samuel anointed as King, while Saul was still King . . . sending David deeper in the wilderness as he now runs for his life from Saul!
Daniel 11:33-35 - Those who are wise will instruct many, though for a time they will fall by the sword or be burned, captured or plundered. When they fall, they will receive a little help, many who are not sincere will join them. Some wise will stumble, so that they may be refined, purified and made spotless until the time of the end, because it is still to come at the appointed time.
2 Timothy 3:12-13 - Yes, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
John 15:17-21 - These things I command you, that you love one another. If the world hates you, you know that it hated me first before it hated you. If you were of the world, then the world would love his own: but because you are not of the world, but that I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said unto you, the servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.
What if you’re actually running from the exact situation, persecution, affliction, trials and tribulations, that are meant to define you? But you’re running from those places not understanding that God does not make it easy to be a king in the Kingdom of God!
John 16:1-4 - Jesus says, these things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended. They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time comes, that whosoever kills you will think that he does God service. And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me. But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.
Jeremiah 12:5 - If you have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you, then how can you contend with horses? And if in the land of peace, in which you trusted, they wearied you, then how will you do in the jungles of the Jordan?
This word in Jeremiah is a spiritual word, and it is to be understood spiritually. The horses represent spiritual things, and the water of the Jordan River also represents spiritual things, God says, you stumble and fall on open ground whereby they have wearied you in the natural, what will you do in the spiritual when you find yourself in the thick of the Jordan? How can you contend with the spiritual? If in the land of peace, where you trust in, has wearied you, how will you do when the Jordan swells up? If the natural things of life are making you weary, then how can you ever contend with the spiritual things that war against the spirit of your soul?
The Past Has a Way of Repeating Itself, and Here We Are Once Again!
A group that came out of exile to rebuild the temple. That’s what God wanted, and that's what was being prophesied. Zachariah, whom we've all come to know very well was there when the job was completed. As a priest and a minor prophet, he now executed his duties in the revived, renewed and restored temple.
In the meantime, his son John was nowhere to be found. That would be his son known as John the Baptist! John decided to hang out in the wilderness with all the locusts and honey! He decided that he was going to blaze his own trail. As Zachariah was out doing his priestly duties I’m sure the boys who hung around Zach were probably wondering what the deal was with regards to his son. Why was Zach not dragging his son out and dialing him up for temple duties.
The bizarre thing is that God ordained Zachariah to be a priest, to help minister in the temple, taking his rightful time slots in the holy of holies. His son, around the same time, was also ordained to play his part. Obviously the call was a little different than his dad as he found himself as one crying out in the wilderness. As Zach played his part in the sacrificing of the lamb, John was playing his part as one being a voice for the coming Lamb. If both were called, and both were ordained, then what we have here is a major time of transition. A major shift set in motion for a movement, where life as we know it, will not ever be the same!
The “what was” and the “what is” are both heading towards the “what will be” The “what was” in Zachariah’s rebuilding time was needed to give reference to the “what is” in Johns time. The “what was” is about to manifested into the “what is”. Zachariah’s movement was a stepping stone for the movement that John is about to walk in! The “what will be” that follows is God being manifested in the flesh! The Lamb of God manifested!
Well today, prophetically, we are in the middle of another major historical shift! In the last five, ten, fifteen to twenty years, there has been a huge shift. It was during this period up to 80% of the church left the building, leaving the walls behind. Like John the Baptist, they all went into the wilderness.
You see, it’s in the wilderness that the Spirit of Elijah has a chance of being established in ones life. As it consumed John in his time, so will it consume this group during this present time, and this group is a massive group that is being shaped for a time such as this.
In our lifetime, God has once again established the “what was” and the “what is” for the “what will be”. We are about to walk into the apostolic age, the ministry of the fivefold as Jesus intended. We are once again embarking into a world without walls, both in the natural and in the spiritual. It really comes down to Jesus being in me, the hope of his glory! Especially when we are about to enter extreme times of tribulation. For in a very short time the world as we know it will not be the same.
Destinies are about to be released! The dysfunction in the days of the “what was”, made it impossible to release the destinies in this massive group. God took the whole lot and steered them into the wilderness, and this massive group is about to come out of the wilderness. Tribulation will bring these ones to the forefront. They are going to be a motley looking bunch of Bravehearts, nothing like the “what was”. They will have the fire of Elijah upon them as they burn up the harvest fields! Gods desire is that the “what was” now honour the “what is” as these Bravehearts begin to move forward. And the “what is” will honour the “what was” as they search out for their spiritual mothers and fathers. In this time frame, the honouring of one another is important.
The new model of the “what is”, is a whole lot different than the “what was”. The last movement was “pastoral”, this new movement is “apostolic” shrouded with an amazing presence of the “prophetic”. Why? Well when movement moves outside the walls, it needs to hear the prophetic voice of God. With that the Apostolic, the prophetic, the evangelistic, the pastoral and the teacher will now walk in its proper alignment. It can now move down the harvest field as the ekklesia team as Jesus originally intended.
We are in a very critical time and God has designed a group that will now hear outside the walls! A team that will honour one another, a team that will serve one another!
